Election Observers

Volunteer as an Election Observer

Elections are open for public observation. We need as many observers as possible to watch the processing of ballots for the entire time these activities are taking place. Counties start opening envelopes, checking signatures, scanning adjudicating the ballots weeks before the day of the election.

Already an Observer?

If you were an observer and watched ballot processing or other related activities at your county’s election’s office, please fill out this short form to share some details about what you experienced and/or witnessed. Please be as specific as possible. Reports that are submitted will be reviewed and cross referenced with records we receive later. If you wish to be contacted, please leave your phone or email. To submit a complaint or possible violation of election laws, you may use this form as well. If you witness a real crime, please notify the appropriate authorities, then share here as well.

Instructions

This page is meant to be a resource for those who are able to go watch the vote counting and other activities. Your county auditor should have a schedule on their website of what activities are scheduled to take place and when. As an observer, there are several things to look for. Watch the short video below for some tips. Then fill out the form below after you observe any of the activities.

Contact Your County Elections Office

Your county party is another good resource for helpful observer information as well. Some counties have groups organizing to spread out their efforts to cover a longer period of time. They may work in shifts of a couple hours. Please see the county resources below the observer form on this page.
